Insurance was an invention of the 19th century. The idea of insurance was not exactly to protect but to
minimize the effects of the risks once they occur. It enables persons to go back to a normal life as soon as a risk occurs. A policyholder, once a risk has occurred has to lodge an insurance claims help to the insurance company that provided him or her with insurance cover. For the claim to be processed, it has to be agreeable to all the parties involved. The claim has to be regulated according to the specifications of the policy agreement that was made initially. The work of claims adjusters is exactly to adjust the claims and keep them at par. No party is allowed to overestimate or underestimate the value of the compensation to favor its own side. Since both parties are bound by law to each other, the insurance claims adjusters only come in to perform independent investigations, come up with the real value of the loss assessors and make the parties decide on a middle ground. This job requires lot of skill at negotiations; therefore, the person has to have excellent negotiations and communication skills to command attention.
